KARACHI: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today (Tuesday) met with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Mehar and other senior officials after they applied for leaves.
Earlier, following the recent arrest of PML-N leader retired Captain Mohammad Safdar, senior Sindh police officials including, two additional inspectors general, seven deputy inspectors general and six senior superintendents, applied for leaves in protest over mishandle and ridicule of the provincial police.
Later in the day, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa took notice of the arrest of PML-N leader retired Capt Mohammad Safdar and order an immediate inquiry into the matter.
The PPP chairman, in this regard, expressed his appreciation to the COAS for taking prompt notice of the Karachi incident and his assurance of conducting a transparent inquiry on the incident.
During today’s meeting, the PPP Chairman asked IG Sindh Mushtaq Mehar to continue work. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah were also present in the meeting held at IG House.
Earlier, addressing a press conference, Bilawal asserted that the top officials of Sindh police were wondering ‘who were the people who surrounded’ the IG Sindh house at 2am and took him to an unspecified location.
