KARACHI: An important development has come to light in the DHA brawl Khayaban-e-Bukhari case, where victim Noor-ul-Ain and her brother Ali Hassan were allegedly tortured inside their apartment.
According to sources, the affected family is now living in fear and has vacated their flat, shifting their belongings to a safe place for security reasons. The family is allegedly being continuously threatened with death and is under intense pressure to withdraw the case and reach a reconciliation.
Why Were Korangi Personnel at Darakhshan Limits?
A major question remains unanswered as senior police officers have not yet been able to explain why personnel deployed in Korangi district were present at the apartment, which falls within the jurisdiction of Darakhshan police station, and on whose orders they were assigned for Maryam’s security.
The incident, which occurred on August 21, involves Maryam Ali Raza, who according to police sources is a relative of SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janori.
New mobile footage that surfaced showed Maryam allegedly torturing Noor-ul-Ain with a dumbbell in the presence of police officials.
DHA Brawl: Three-Day Inquiry Ordered
To ensure a transparent investigation, a committee headed by DIG South Asad Raza has been formed. Police Chief Azad Khan has ordered the submission of the inquiry report within three days.
The committee has summoned both parties to record their statements. According to police officials, after identifying all security personnel seen in the CCTV footage, they will also be called to record their statements.
The investigation team has also sought all available CCTV footage and details of past disputes from the victim’s family.
Earlier, police confirmed that provisions of theft and kidnapping were dropped from the FIR registered at Darakhshan police station after footage clarified the matter was not related to theft, and the role of officials in allegedly breaking CCTV cameras is being probed.
