WASHINGTON: US experts have claimed that cancer drugs can cause serious illness, especially those who choose hormone therapy to treat prostate cancer need to pay attention.
According to the details, patients undergoing hormone therapy who do not seek treatment in any other way were found to be at higher risk of medical complications.
Researchers at Michigan Medicine found that men who took hormone therapy in addition to taking one of the two most common food medications for prostate cancer had a higher risk of heart problems than those who only took hormone therapy.
Patients who used abiraterone were 1.77 times more likely to be hospitalized for diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease than those who were receiving only hormone therapy.

Previous clinical trials have shown that two cancer drugs, abiraterone, and enzalutamide, are generally safe, but researchers re-examined both drugs and found that the patients participating in the trials did not represent real-world patients.
For example, the patients involved in the treatment were only Medicare patients and most of the men are much older than them, after which the scope of research was widened and the two drugs were tested from different angles.
Researchers said that people with advanced prostate cancer need to be careful about the use of these two drugs, while many patients with prostate cancer have been using these two drugs for a long time.
