NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone visited the University of Jawaharlal Nehru (JNU) in solidarity with the students after a group of masked vandals attacked the campus on Sunday, leaving many wounded.
Several Bollywood celebrities have previously condemned the violent attack, including Sonam Kapoor and Mahesh Bhatt. Deepika Padukone, who was in the capital to launch her film Chhapaak, went down to the rally against the attack that was taking place outside the campus of the university, where she also met with Aishe Ghosh, president of the Jawaharlal Nehru Students Association.

The step received a mixed reaction on social media, where people either considered her bold to take such a stand or asked for a boycott of her recent movie.

Many Bollywood celebrities came in support of Deepika Padukone and called her a brave lady, while some people criticized over her visit to JNU students rally against the Indian government.
