LAHORE: A major digital transformation decision has been made for millions of beneficiaries under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), under which the traditional cash payment system is being replaced by the introduction of a BISP Digital Wallet system.
Step 1: Shift from Cash to Digital System
According to details, under this new system, beneficiaries will get rid of long queues and complex cash procedures, while their financial assistance will be transferred directly into bank accounts or mobile wallets.
Step 2: Automatic Registration (No Application Needed)
According to officials, this system will be completely automated, and beneficiaries will not need to visit any office, apply, or submit forms. Eligible individuals will be automatically linked to a bank or mobile wallet through the database, and they will be informed once the process is complete.
Step 3: Linked Banks and Wallet Services
Under the new system, institutions like HBL, Bank Alfalah, Bank of Punjab, HBL Konnect, JazzCash, and Easypaisa will be included. According to sources, beneficiaries will be linked to a specific service according to each district.
Step 4: Biometric Verification Requirement
To receive the payment, biometric verification (thumbprint) will be mandatory, after which beneficiaries will be able to get their money from bank branches, ATMs, or authorized retailer points.
Step 5: Digital Payment Features
Through the BISP Digital Wallet, beneficiaries will also have the facility of money transfer, transactions through mobile wallets, and direct purchasing from designated shops.
Step 6: Next Installment Update
According to officials, the release of the next BISP installment is conditional on the completion of the wallet and SIM integration, which is why the date for the next payment cycle has not been issued yet, making the setup of the BISP Digital Wallet the primary focus for now.
