ISLAMABAD: The bill to change the rules and procedures of the Supreme Court has been approved in the Senate, and 60 senators voted in favour of the bill.
According to the details, the bill to change the rules and procedures of the Supreme Court, especially regarding suo motu, was approved during today’s ongoing Senate session. Around 60 votes were cast in favor of the bill while 19 votes were cast against it.
The Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill 2023 was passed by a majority vote in today’s meeting chaired by Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani. Opposition Senate members also protested during the passage of the bill.
The opposition senators also raised slogans of disapproval of the Supreme Court reform bill. Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani announced the approval of the bill regarding the Supreme Court based on the majority opinion.
It should be noted that earlier the mother of former provincial minister Salma Khan and Senator Satara Ayaz passed away. The funeral prayer was performed five days ago.
The funeral prayer of former provincial minister Salma Khan and mother of Senator Satara Ayaz was held at 11 o’clock in Jhanda Swabi. The deceased was the aunt of Wideband Cable Network owner Farman Ali Afridi.
