ISLAMABAD: PTI Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai has stepped down from party ticket in the Senate polls vowing that he would even “sacrifice his life” for Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He made the announcement after Federal Ministers Shibli Faraz and Azam Swati reached the house of Senator Aurangzeb Orakzai, accompanied by Senators Sajjad Hussain, Mirza Afridi and Naseebullah Banzai.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that Senator Aurangzeb Khan accepted the decision of Prime Minister Imran Khan with open-heartedness.
Shibli Faraz said that Senator Aurangzeb presented the position of PTI very effectively in the Senate. “He is an asset to the party and will continue to be so in the future”, he added.
Azam Swati said that they were deeply grateful to Aurangzeb Khan for accepting the decision of the party leadership and they had come in recognition of his services.
On this occasion, Aurangzeb Khan said that Senator or not, he values Imran Khan’s vision. Circumstances demand that we support Imran Khan; we are patriots, we will stand with him through every difficulty.
It is worth mentioning here that PTI had fielded maximum candidates for the upcoming Senate polls, scheduled to be held on 03 March 2021.
PM Imran’s party has overall 52 candidates for the polls of the upper house of the parliament. The ECP has approved the nomination papers of all candidates of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) from Sindh for the Senate elections.
The election commission will conduct scrutiny of the nomination papers of further 22 candidates submitted for 11 senate seats for general as well as the seats for technocrats and women categories. The PPP has issued tickets to Taj Haider, Shahadat Awan, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Salim Mandviwalla and Sherry Rehman for general seats in Sindh.
PML-N has awarded tickets to 19 party candidates and the People’s Party with 18 candidates remained second and third in the number of candidates.
