ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has ordered to complete the design of the Karachi-Quetta road project by 31st March 2021.
Asad Umar recently chaired a meeting to review various road infrastructure projects under a public-private partnership (PPP). The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer PPPA Malik Ahmed Khan, Chairman National Highway Authority Capt. Sikandar Qayyum, and senior officials.
Minister was notified on various projects including N-25 Karachi-Quetta road worth around Rs200 billion and Mianwali-Muzaffargarh road worth nearly Rs. 100 billion that are currently under consideration.

During the meeting, it was informed that apart from Sukkur Hyderabad Motorway, which has been approved by CDWP, two more road projects ‘N-25 Karachi-Quetta Road’ and ‘Mianwali- Muzaffargarh Road’ are also being processed for implementation.
Asad Umar in this regard said that these projects would help provide good road foundation facilities in collaboration with the private sector. He further directed to complete the design and feasibility studies of both the project by 31st March next year.
The 790-km N-25 connects Karachi Port with Quetta and provides access to Afghanistan through Chaman. The project includes the construction of additional carriageway and rehabilitation of existing road were required to make it a four-lane divided carriageway.
