JERUSALEM: Another Pakistani delegation landed in Israel for secret talks, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.
The Jerusalem Post reported that Naseem Ashraf, a former minister in Pakistan, led a team to Israel this week. Nine people made up the delegation that travelled to Israel, four of them, including a journalist, are Pakistani citizens.
A journalist from a Karachi news station was also part of the delegation. Other members preferred to keep their identities secret.
“The group led tours around Israel on the geopolitical, historical, and religious, as well as heritage, cultural, and technological, with a focus on water innovations. The team was scheduled to see Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem later this week, according to an Israeli media report.
A top official from Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation in the world, was also mentioned in the news story as being in Israel on a covert visit.
The goal of this delegation is to continue the peacemaking efforts and build positive understanding and help encourage Pakistan-Israel relations.
Pakistan and Israel have not officially responded to this news.
The report is once again caused quite a controversy in Islamabad.
PTI leader Shireen Mazari has demanded that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs give a clarification on the matter.
