Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor whose recent comment about Alia Bhatt’s weight gain did not go down well with a section of social media users. Well, the actor finally apologised for fat-shaming his pregnant wife.
It all started when Ranbir and Alia were promoting Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming directorial Brahmastra in which Alia had used the word ‘phailoed (spreading) ‘ ‘ which Ranbir linked to her weight gain. Although he later added that he was joking, Ranbir’s comment did not sit well with social media users, who criticised him for ‘fat-shaming’ his wife.
Now, in a recent media interaction, the Shamshera did issue a clarification and apologised for ‘fat-shaming’ his pregnant wife. He stated that it was not his intention to trigger anyone with his ‘ phailod’ (spreading) comment. He shared that the comment was a result of his bad sense of humour.

“I think it’s a joke that didn’t turn out to be funny. I really want to apologise if I have triggered anyone. It was not my intention. So I want to say sorry to people who got offended or triggered … But I do have a bad sense of humour and sometimes it falls flat on my own face. So I am sorry if I have hurt anyone about it,” he said.
The 39-year-old further said that he loves his wife, and she didn’t mind the joke. “I spoke to Alia about it and she really laughed it off and she didn’t mind it,” he added.
The couple who tied the knot on April 14, 2022, announced the news of pregnancy via an Instagram post later in June. On the work front, both will star as a couple in ‘Brahmastra’.
