It may be recalled that Tarar was faced with severe criticism for his silence over anti-army tirade at Asma Jehangir conference. He went on to Twitter and expressed his disappointment in words mentioned below.
I am disappointed the way a small group of participants behaved at AJCON22 today by unnecessarily chanting slogans against state institutions n not listing to the achievements so far made for their benefits. We must respect each other’s point of view#hallmark of democratic socity

He was also said to be under immense pressure for casting his vote in favour of some ‘junior judges’, along with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, who were being elevated to the Supreme Court. His support for the elevation of junior judges was severely criticized by lawyers’ fraternity as well as bar associations across Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif had appointed PMNL leader Ayaz Sadiq as country’s new law minister, almost a week after Azam Nazeer Tarar resigned from his post due to controversies triggered at Asma Jahangir conference.

However, the PM is now reported to have asked federal ministers to ask Tarar to continue serving as the law minister and that he would not accept his resignation. It is pertinent to mention here that Azam Nazeer Tarar had sent his resignation to the President, and not to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
It has also been reported that federal ministers, including Ishaq Dar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Marriyum Aurangzeb, met with the senator at his residence and conveyed the prime minister’s message.
After discussion with the federal ministers, Tarar spoke to his bar colleagues. Following his conversation with them, the PMLN leader decided to return to the cabinet.
