The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the suicide bombing at a mosque in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, which claimed the lives of at least 31 worshippers and injured another 169 during Friday prayers.
The explosion occurred at Imambargah Khadijah-tul-Kubra in the Tarlai area of the federal capital. Witnesses and images from the scene showed bloodied bodies on the carpeted floor, surrounded by glass shards, debris, and panicked worshippers. Dozens more injured were seen lying in the mosque’s garden as people urgently sought help.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan denounced attacks of this nature, saying they violate both Islamic and humanitarian values by targeting places of worship and civilians.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for a speedy recovery for the injured.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif suggested possible involvement of India and Afghanistan in the attack. In a post on social media platform X, he stated that “it has been proved the terrorist involved in the attack travelled to and from Afghanistan. The collusion between India and Afghanistan is being revealed.”
Authorities are investigating the incident as security forces increase measures across the capital to prevent further attacks.
