US President Joe Biden has said that forces will remain to stay in Afghanistan until the evacuation of American citizens is completed.
The president said he could extend the withdrawal date for US troops after August 31. The United States has already withdrawn its diplomatic staff from Afghanistan, but some Americans are still stranded at airports.
In a televised interview, Biden said the Taliban had cooperated in the evacuation of the Americans and their allies, but that many embassies had closed. “It’s very difficult to get those who helped us out,” Biden said. The US Secretary of Defense said that he will try to get people out of Kabul as soon as possible.Â
US forces are focused on the security of Kabul Airport and cannot help people get to the airport. The Defense Department said people have to go through Taliban checkpoints to reach Kabul airport.

The United States has called on the Taliban to allow those leaving Afghanistan to reach airports. NATO has also announced plans to send more aircraft to evacuate Afghanistan. NATO says the return of foreigners stranded in Afghanistan is a top priority.
It should be noted that Kabul has been taken over by the Taliban and they are preparing to form a government throughout Afghanistan. The Taliban has also announced the establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
The Taliban say the Islamic Emirate wants good diplomatic and trade relations with all countries. The spokesman said that travel of all countries and foreigners would be provided security. After the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, the country is in a state of chaos and all countries are expelling their citizens.
