A murder case of a dead student found in a sack took nine years to get solved due to the slow investigation of Islamabad police and their non-cooperation behaviour with the deceased family.
According to details, the body of a 22-year-old student has recovered from Korang Nala in coral police station area nine years ago. However, the arrest against the killer took place after nine years due to poor investigation and less interest in the case by the police.
The body of the victim was found the day after her mysterious disappearance, but due to non-cooperation between the police of the twin cities, the student was identified three months later and by that time the police had buried the body in trust.
Local police arrested the murderer from the Mardan area after nine years but coral police immediately jumped into the conflict to make a name for themselves. The student was the daughter of a rickshaw driver named Muhammad Rashid from Bani Chauhar in Rawalpindi.
Muhammad Rashid has six daughters and only son, the eldest of whom was a third-year student at Nargis Punjab College. She left home on the morning of December 7, 2012, to go to college and mysteriously disappeared. The next day, on December 8, the body of a young student was found in a sack near Ghauri Town, phase 4-A, near Korang Nala of the coral police station. Seven pistol shots were fired at the body of the victim, as a result of which she died.
The police shifted the body to PIMS Hospital for postmortem and buried the student in the local cemetery without any identification. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased remained unaware of the discovery and burial.
Police showed the photos to the family to identify the daughter, but the student was buried, so the family was deprived of the last visit. The family told the police that a merchant from Mohmand Agency in their neighborhood wanted to marry his daughter.
The family said that a man named Fazlur Rehman had also made threats on her refusal to marry and he had disappeared from the area from the day of the incident. Despite receiving information, the police acted sluggishly in the investigation, after which nine years passed and the family was patient.
Yesterday, the police suddenly informed the family that the killer Fazlur Rehman has been caught, who was arrested by the local police from Mardan. After fulfilling the legal requirements, he will be handed over to the Islamabad police, the cops informed.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of Islamabad police immediately declared the arrest of the accused as the work of the police and not only bridged the gap of appreciation of the police team but also issued a press release by the new SP Rural Zone Noshirwan to commend the police team.
