KARACHI: Singer Atif Aslam has been sent a tax notice worth 58 million by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after the audit of his income for the year 2018.

Atif Aslam has been given one month’s notice to pay the tax in which if he fails to pay the due amount, the FBR will make the recovery by freezing his bank accounts. This is not the first time a celebrity has come on FBR’s list. Last year in October, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s sources of income were also investigated.

Earlier in 2019, the FBR also launched an initiative to collect tax from the citizens and requested showbiz personalities to declare their assets, warning them that if they don’t they will also face disciplinary action.

Moreover, the 100 digital stars listed by Forbes featured Atif Aslam in the list. “Released in May, his song Asma-ul-Husna recites Allah’s 99 names to encourage hope during the pandemic and has over 22 million views on YouTube,” the description released by the Forbes read.
