ISLAMABAD: The United Nations has called upon India and Pakistan to reduce tensions and engage in a dialogue and pursue solutions in accordance with the United Nations Charter and Security Council resolutions.

This was stated by UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov while talking to Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Ambassador Munir Akram in New York.

During the meeting, the Pakistani envoy handed over the dossier to him regarding Indian involvement in terrorist activities against Pakistan.

The UN counter-terrorism chief promised to “study” the dossier, which has been prepared by Pakistani agencies after a full investigation of India’s systematic campaign to promote terrorism and subversion in Pakistan, the official said.

The Pakistani envoy also held a meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate Michele Coninsx.

On November 24, Ambassador Akram handed over the same dossier to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during a meeting at the UN Headquarters in New York. The envoy briefed the UN chief about the Indian involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan. He apprised that India is involved in orchestrating terrorist attacks in Pakistan and urged him to take note.

Later while addressing a virtual news conference, Ambassador Munir Akram had said India is involved in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan and in the region and wants to paralyse Pakistan’s economy.

He said the UN Security Council’s team is also investigating Indian terrorism in Pakistan, which is an open violation of the UN Charter and international laws. He said Pakistan’s dossier of Indian terrorism will also be handed over to the member countries of UN Security Council.

He said India is continuously involved in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and Pakistan reserves the right to defend itself against any kind of Indian aggression.

The ambassador said India is also consistently involved in sabotaging the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which has a pivotal role in Pakistan’s development.
