ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly condemned the target killing of Maulana Adil of Jamia Farooqia in Karachi.
On a social media website Twitter, PM Imran said, “My government has known and I have repeatedly stated this on TV, since last three months India s attempts to target kill Aalims from Sunni and Shia sects to create sectarian conflict across the country”.
“We have prevented a number of such attempts preemptively in the last few months. Our intelligence organizations and law enforcement agencies will nab the culprits of this murder also,” he added.
Imran Khan said that our ulema from all sects must ensure people do not fall prey to this nefarious Indian design to destabilize Pakistan.

Renowned religions scholar Moulana Adil and his driver were killed by unidentified armed men in Karachi on Saturday.
According to the details, Jamia Farooqia’s Moulana Adil was on his way when unidentified armed men riding on motorcycles opened firming on his vehicle in Shah Faisal Colony.
On being informed, rescue officials and police rushed to the scene and shifted them to the hospital where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
Liaquat National Hospital spokesman Anjum Rizvi also confirmed that Dr Adil was killed in the firing. According to the hospital’s spokesperson, Maulana Adil suffered two bullet wounds.
Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Executive Director Dr Seemi Jamali said that the body of Muhammad Maqsood, driver of the deceased scholar, was brought to the facility’s emergency ward.
Police sources said that a third person was also present in the vehicle at the time of the incident. He is a companion of Maulana Adil and remained safe.
A heavy contingent of police and Rangers have reached the site of the incident and a probe with the help of CCTV cameras is underway.
It is pertinent to mention here that Moulana Adil was the son of renounced religious scholar Saleemullah Khan.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police (IGP) taking notice of the firing incident have directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi to submit an inquiry report into the matter.
