Lahore: The Punjab government has unveiled a Ramadan assistance initiative aimed at supporting deserving families within the province, with plans to distribute a pay order of Rs 10,000 to 3 million families.
As reported by a private television channel, this year the government has opted to provide direct financial aid to families rather than offering subsidies at Ramadan bazaars.
Under this Ramadan package, each eligible family will receive a pay order of Rs 10,000. The Price Control and Commodities Management Punjab has submitted a proposal to the provincial government for the allocation of the necessary funds.
Previously, the Punjab government launched the ‘Nigahban Ramadan Relief Package’ to assist underprivileged families during the holy month.
This relief initiative was announced during a special meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who emphasized that the package is a fundamental right for those in need and a responsibility of the government. She also highlighted the importance of ensuring a dignified distribution process, avoiding long queues.
Citizens can register for this assistance either through the PSER portal online or at over 4,000 registration centers situated in union councils and municipal offices throughout Punjab. The deadline for registration is February 15.
