Karachi needs a messiah

Karachi is the heart and economic hub of Pakistan. It is a megacity, the heart of Pakistan, the city of Quaid and the city of lights. In short, Karachi is a city with captivating places and a home to more than 20 million people.

The city of Karachi is the source of 70 percent of Pakistan’s income and this is the city that burns in the scorching sun every day and casts its shadow over the whole country like a dense tenacious tree. Any city in the country has any trouble or disaster, the citizens of Karachi are the first to reach there for help and also raise their voice for the rights of oppressed people. There are examples of relief and services provided by the people of Karachi in the past during earthquakes and other calamities in the country, but when it comes to Karachi, no one cares how the city faces its challenges alone. On social media, people from other cities were seen mocking Karachi sinking due to the recent rains.

It is a long debate whether Karachi has become destitute or not but the whole world has found the city hapless in the sixth spell of the monsoon. Garbage, flowing gutters, waterlogged areas tell the story of helpless Karachi.

The leadership of Karachi should be handed over to a brave person who can heal the wounds of the oppressed people.

On the other hand, politicians were seen abusing and criticizing each other for politics. As usual, the federation blamed the Sindh government and the provincial government criticized the federal government. Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar was also seen weeping for power and throwing all the rubble on the federal and Sindh government, while a large number of people on social media were seen remembering the old leadership in Karachi.

The PTI and PPP leaders were also busy insulting and blaming each other for the destruction of Karachi. Due to the month of Muharram, Shia clerics were also seen complaining that different leaders of political parties went on a tour of the city but no arrangements were made to draw water from mosques and Imambargahs on an emergency basis causing trouble during majalis.

Heavy rains in Karachi submerged countless areas, homes and vehicles. The biggest destruction was suffered by the people who were forced to migrate from their own homes that were wrecked. An unfortunate landslide incident also took place in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Karachi kept sinking in front of its citizens and they kept shedding tears over their helplessness.

The youth of Karachi are now chanting the slogan of a separate province. The divided, oppressed, and sinking Karachi is feeble and the desolate city is now looking for a miracle to help alleviate its woes by turning the city into a province.

This time I will not appeal to the prime minister or the chief minister because the federation and the province are fighting for their political interests only. I appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Army Chief on behalf of the people of Karachi that when in every difficult time and the soldiers of the Army have to take the field, then what is the use of these colorful political orbits in Karachi? Why there is no system? The strength and development of Karachi is the guarantor of the security of our homeland and peace and prosperity is our first priority.
