Karachi’s troubles and powerless mayor

Two days of heavy rain have brought relief to the heat-stricken citizens of the metropolis however, on the other side overflowing gutters and accumulation of water on the streets turned the rain mercy into trouble.
This year in Karachi, almost every prediction of the Meteorological Department proved to be correct, otherwise, in the past, we have seen that every forecast of the department would have been reversed.
Heavy rains were forecast in Karachi on July 17 and 18. In this regard, the Minister for Local Government and the Mayor of Karachi claimed that they were prepared for the disaster. As soon as the rain gripped Karachi, the city once again deluged.
In the metropolis, wherever it rained, people started cursing the city administration. But alas, our rulers still are not ashamed. Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar as always said that he doesn’t have mayoral powers.
Mayor Karachi is so helpless that he has only a 4700 cc government vehicle. His personal staff consists of two 19th grade officers and seven 17th and 18th grade officers. Waseem Akhtar also has two separate KMC vehicles for his children and wife with drivers. Wasim Akhtar as a mayor gets all the other allowances besides salary but he still has no powers.
Due to Wasim Akhtar’s lack of authority, the metropolitan government and dispensaries are full of MQM workers. Their salaries are on time. However, the workers are not physically working there because Waseem Akhtar doesn’t have powers.
On the orders of the Mayor Karachi, vehicles, scooters, and garbage collection vehicles arrive at the meetings and rallies of MQM (Pakistan). However, these vehicles cannot be used for collecting the city’s garbage and removing water from the streets because Waseem Akhtar doesn’t have powers.
As mayor, Wasim Akhtar has the same powers as the late Abdul Sattar Afghani and Dr. Farooq Sattar had. However, they did not perform their duties because they didn’t have the authority to make fake recruitments, give contracts to party people, transfer budgets at will and take over city parks, and government buildings.
