SRINAGAR: The curfew and communications blockage in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) continues to cut off the region from the rest of the world for the 291st consecutive day on Thursday.
Indian soldiers last week on Wednesday shot a young man at a checkpoint in occupied Kashmir that triggered anti-India protests and clashes in the disputed Himalayan region.
India’s Central Reserve Police Force said the man was driving a car and ignored signals to stop at two checkpoints in the western outskirts of occupied Srinagar. It said the soldiers feared sabotage because a military convoy was passing by at the time.
Moreover, at least four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and seven injured after a patrolling party of the paramilitary force was attacked in an area of occupied Kashmir. The incident happened in the Wangam Qaziabad area of Handwara.
According to human rights groups, thousands in Kashmir are buried in unmarked graves, most of them close to the LoC.
A research conducted in IoK stated that Indian troops have martyred at least 93 Kashmiris, including women and teenagers during the ongoing eight-month siege and lockdown in occupied Kashmir.
At least 963 people were critically injured due to the use of brute forces, firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells on them by the Indian military and the police in the occupied territory.
