PESHAWAR: Another two cases of poliovirus has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa raising the total tally of cases in the province to 29 this year.
One polio case reported in Lakki Marwat of a 14-month-old girl was diagnosed with the infection virus, the other case from the same province being a 13-month-old boy living in South Waziristan.
In this regard, a five-day special anti-polio drive in sixteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) kicked-off last week.
According to Emergency Operation Center Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the districts where the campaign conducting includes Peshawar, Upper Dir, Hangu, Karak, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Khyber, Bajaur, Orakzai, Kurram, Buner, Dera Ismail Khan, Lower Dir, South Waziristan, and North Waziristan districts of the province.
More than three million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the drive. Ten thousand four hundred and eighty-five teams have been constituted which will ensure administering the anti-polio vaccine to each and every child.
