Opposition parties in Sindh demand delay of IGP replacement until LB polls

KARACHI: Opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday asking him to order the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe two provincial ministers for alleged ties with criminals.
According to a report, a separate letter was sent to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf legislator Haleem Adil Sheik, accusing him of breaking the laws while asking the federal government to change the incumbent IGP Sindh, Kaleem Imam.

The moves come in the midst of a political scuffle over Imam’s dismissal from his post as provincial chief of police. The opposition in Sindh has strongly opposed the change after the Sindh government formally requested the center to replace Imam as IGP Sindh.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Firdos Shamim Naqvi requested PM Imran to allow the FIA to conduct inquiries against two important provincial ministers, Saeed Ghani and Imtiaz Shaikh, to investigate the charges of links with criminals levied against them.
