PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has claimed that federal interference has weakened the authority of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, leaving the province in a situation akin to de facto governor’s rule.
Speaking to the media after meeting Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Barrister Gohar said imposing governor’s rule or declaring an emergency would not resolve terrorism and could further aggravate the crisis. He said all stakeholders agreed on the need to eliminate terrorism, but differed over the strategy to achieve that goal.

The PTI chairman called for an immediate end to restrictions on meetings with party founder Imran Khan, saying the move could help improve the situation.
He also alleged that nine PTI members of the provincial assembly, including three party ministers, and eight members of the National Assembly had been picked up.
Barrister Gohar urged the country’s political leadership to abandon stubbornness and resolve disputes through dialogue and mutual consultation. He stressed that serious efforts and an effective strategy were essential to counter terrorism and address the political crisis.
