KARACHI: A disturbing incident has been reported in Karachi’s New Nazimabad area after a video allegedly showing an elderly man making obscene gestures in the presence of a minor girl surfaced on social media and went viral.
According to the video circulating online, the man, dressed in traditional white attire, can allegedly be seen near a residential building’s parking area while a young girl is playing nearby. The video appears to show the man engaging in inappropriate and obscene behaviour in the child’s presence.
The incident was reportedly recorded by a female resident of a nearby flat or house, who captured the footage on her mobile phone. The video was subsequently shared on social media, where it drew widespread public attention and condemnation.
Following the circulation of the video, social media users expressed anger and called for strict action against those involved in such incidents. Citizens also urged authorities to strengthen measures aimed at protecting children from harassment and abuse.

Residents of New Nazimabad and members of the area’s central committee reportedly responded promptly after becoming aware of the incident. The committee contacted the security administration and police and requested immediate action.
Police subsequently took the alleged suspect into custody from the scene.
Meanwhile, the New Nazimabad administration also took action against the relevant tenant, reportedly cancelling the tenant’s NOC and directing the occupants to vacate the premises.
The incident has sparked renewed calls for stronger safeguards for children and swift legal action in cases involving alleged harassment or inappropriate conduct.
