SHARQPUR SHARIF: Police have launched a crackdown against drugs and illicit liquor, arresting two alleged suspects and recovering a large consignment of liquor during a successful raid. The suspects were allegedly preparing to distribute the liquor across several districts.
According to police sources, Sharqpur Sharif Station House Officer (SHO) Wajid Abbas received confidential information about the alleged illegal activity. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a police team raided a residential house.
During the operation, police seized hundreds of liquor bottles from the premises, which were allegedly intended for distribution in nearby districts.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested suspects were allegedly operating a liquor distribution network in various areas of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, according to police.
Authorities have registered a case against the suspects and placed them in police custody as further investigation continues.
Police officials said the scope of the investigation has been expanded to trace the remaining members and facilitators allegedly linked to the network.
SHO Wajid Abbas vowed that indiscriminate action against the illegal trade in drugs and liquor would continue until the menace is eliminated from the area.
