ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has extended its existing restrictions on Indian-registered aircraft from using its airspace for another month, with the ban now set to remain in effect until October 24, 2026.
According to an official notification, the restrictions apply not only to Indian-registered aircraft but also to aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators. Military flights are also covered by the restrictions.
Pakistan initially imposed the airspace restrictions in 2025 amid heightened tensions with India following the Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
The continued closure of Pakistani airspace has forced Indian airlines to use alternative routes for international flights. These longer routes have increased flight times and fuel consumption, particularly for services connecting India with destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Pakistan has extended the restrictions several times since they were first imposed. The latest decision means the ban on Indian aircraft using Pakistani airspace will remain in effect for another month.
Last month, Pakistan extended the restrictions on Indian-registered aircraft until September 24, 2026.
