CHARSADDA: Police in Charsadda district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have safely recovered a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted at gunpoint and arrested three suspects, including a woman.
According to Charsadda District Police Officer (DPO) Rifatullah Khan, a case was registered on September 10, 2026, after police received information about the abduction of the minor girl. Five special teams were formed to trace and recover her, with operations carried out in several areas, including Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Peshawar, Thall, Doaba and Hangu.
One of the teams was assigned technical investigations and analysed data and call detail records (CDRs) from more than 100 mobile phone numbers. The analysis helped police trace the location of the abducted girl, leading to her safe recovery in Hangu.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a marriage proposal dispute between the two families. Police said the suspects had initially sought the girl’s hand in marriage, but allegedly abducted her at gunpoint after the proposal was rejected.
Police arrested three suspects during the operation, including two men identified as Shaukat Ayaz and Riaz Khanzada, along with a woman. Further investigation is underway.
DPO Rifatullah Khan said Charsadda Police were taking effective measures to protect citizens, particularly women, and that strict action would be taken against those involved in criminal activities in accordance with the law.
