The federal government has declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a public holiday to mark Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
Muslims around the world observe the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, a copy of which is available with Dawn, “The prime minister has been pleased to declare Aug 26, 2026 (Wednesday) as a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal 1448 AH).”

The notification said the holiday was declared in continuation of an earlier circular issued on January 19 regarding public and optional holidays for 2026.
The announcement follows last week’s decision by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee. Its chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, said the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted on August 13, confirming that Eid Miladun Nabi would be observed on August 26.
