The use of CNG and LPG cylinders in school vans has been completely banned in Karachi, with authorities warning that vehicles violating the directive will not be allowed to operate.
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has directed all affiliated educational institutions to strictly ensure compliance with the ban in vehicles used for students’ pick-and-drop services.
Under the new directive, violators may face fines and confiscation of their vehicles. Schools have also been instructed to ensure that transporters providing student transport services comply with the new safety requirements.

The move is aimed at improving the safety of schoolchildren and preventing accidents involving gas-powered student transport vehicles.
