Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) launched the dedicated Retailer Scheme mobile app (Asaan Tajir) on Wednesday.
Developed in consultation with trader bodies, the app simplifies tax registration and return filing for small shopkeepers under a voluntary fixed tax regime.
The app is designed for shopkeepers with an annual turnover of up to PKR 200 million. Under the scheme, retailers will pay a fixed tax of 1% of their gross annual turnover, subject to a minimum payment of PKR 25,000.
Speaking at the launch, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said traders and small shopkeepers had long demanded a simplified taxation system.
He said the Fixed Tax Scheme and the app were developed in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
Aurangzeb assured shopkeepers that the scheme would not lead to unnecessary difficulties or harassment, urging retailers to make full use of the new facility.
The minister said the government would continue taking measures to bring all segments of society into the formal tax system.
Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani outlined the app’s key features, saying it allows retailers with annual turnover of up to PKR 200 million to register easily and file their tax returns through a simplified process.
He said retailers can download the Asaan Tajir app from the Google Play Store and become registered tax filers without going through complicated procedures.
