The crescent moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH was not sighted in Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced after its meeting in Islamabad.
The meeting was held after Asr prayers at the central secretariat of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and was chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
According to the committee, no credible reports of the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon sighting were received from any part of the country. As a result, the first day of Rabi-ul-Awwal will be observed on Saturday, August 15.
The committee further announced that 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, which marks Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), will fall on Wednesday, August 26.
The announcement determines the dates of the important religious observance in Pakistan, with preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi now set to take place according to the officially announced lunar calendar.
