KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially notified an increase in water and sewerage charges for Karachi residents, with revised tariffs approved for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC).
According to the gazette notification, water and sewerage charges have been increased by 7.5 percent. The revised rates will apply to bills issued from July 1, 2026.
The Sindh government has formally approved the new tariff for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and issued an official notification in this regard.
The increase comes at a time when water supply remains disrupted in several parts of Karachi. Residents in various areas say they continue to receive monthly bills despite inadequate or unavailable public water supplies, while many are also forced to purchase water through tankers to meet their daily needs.
Water supply is frequently disrupted due to faults at pumping stations, damaged pipelines and other technical issues, causing significant difficulties for residents across the city.
Meanwhile, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation continues to face challenges in recovering outstanding dues. Bill collection remains low, leaving billions of rupees in unpaid arrears yet to be recovered.
