KARACHI: The court-ordered exhumation of 25-year-old entrepreneur and IBA graduate Mir Raza Ali’s body was officially postponed following strong objections raised by his family over the sudden, unannounced alteration of the medical board.

Judicial Magistrate East Hamidullah confirmed the postponement after the victim’s parents flatly refused to permit the exhumation or a second autopsy under the newly reconstituted panel.

The deadlock stems from a late-night restructuring of the court-sanctioned medical board, which was abruptly scaled down from eight members to five. Except for Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, all original members were replaced without prior consultation or notification to the grieving family.
Speaking directly to reporters outside the cemetery, Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain Ali, cited the magistrate’s original order to reject the newly formed board, accusing authorities of bypassing judicial directives to alter the course of the investigation.
“We spent the entire day in court and received an official order detailing a specific panel,” Mir Hussain stated. “The medical board was stealthily changed in the dark of night without taking us into confidence. Someone powerful is being shielded, and we will not allow our son’s grave to be disturbed under these suspicious circumstances.”
