Pakistan’s power distribution companies (Discos) have sought a positive quarterly tariff adjustment of up to Rs1 per unit under the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA) mechanism for the April–June 2026 quarter, seeking to recover more than Rs23.031 billion from consumers. The proposed adjustment will also apply to K-Electric consumers.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has scheduled a public hearing on August 12, 2026 to consider the petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guaranteed (CPPA-G) on behalf of the Discos.
According to the petition, all Discos except TESCO and QESCO have requested to recover Rs49.746 billion in capacity charges.
However, this amount has been reduced by a negative adjustment of Rs13.517 billion due to variable operation and maintenance (O&M) charges, system usage charges, market operator fees, and the impact of transmission and distribution losses under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA).
The requested capacity charge adjustments include:
FESCO: Rs9.573 billion
GEPCO: Rs7.587 billion
HESCO: Negative Rs599 million
IESCO: Rs6.867 billion
LESCO: Rs10.484 billion
MEPCO: Rs9.244 billion
PESCO: Rs7.762 billion
QESCO: Negative Rs3.008 billion
SEPCO: Rs3.860 billion
TESCO: Negative Rs3.790 billion
HAZECO: Rs1.766 billion
Data submitted to NEPRA shows that IESCO has sought a positive adjustment of Rs4.872 billion, LESCO Rs2.353 billion, GEPCO Rs4.992 billion, FESCO Rs5.358 billion, MEPCO Rs5.070 billion, PESCO Rs6.294 billion, SEPCO Rs2.960 billion and HAZECO Rs1.239 billion.
Meanwhile, HESCO has requested a negative adjustment of Rs2.083 billion, QESCO Rs3.647 billion and TESCO Rs4.377 billion. The overall net impact amounts to Rs23.031 billion.
The negative adjustment comprises Rs4.955 billion in variable O&M charges, Rs13.517 billion in system usage charges and market operator fees, and Rs3.20 billion due to the impact of transmission and distribution losses.
NEPRA said that under the federal government’s uniform quarterly tariff adjustment policy, the approved QTA for Discos will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers.
