14 killed, 20 injured in suicide blast near police station in Swat

A suicide bombing near a police station in Kabal area of Swat killed 14 people and injured 20 others, according to officials.

According to the latest figures provided by the Assistant Commissioner Kabal, at least 14 people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in the incident.

According to Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Khan, the suicide bomber detonated his explosives after police personnel attempted to stop and search him at the entrance to the police station.

The DPO said officers had remained on high alert following the incident. “Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway to collect further evidence,” he said.

The blast occurred near the main gate of the Kabal police station as hundreds of people were taking part in a public demonstration at nearby Kabal Chowk against the recent surge in terrorism across the Swat Valley.

The explosion resulted in multiple casualties, triggering an immediate response from police, rescue teams and local authorities.

The injured were transported to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital for medical treatment, while security forces cordoned off the area and began a search operation.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible for the attack.
