LAHORE: In a sudden turn of events, social media activist, psychologist, and digital creator Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan has announced her decision to withdraw her Khulla (dissolution of marriage) petition filed against her husband, Haris Hamid Khokhar.

Her legal counsel, Advocate Muhammad Mudassar, confirmed the development, stating that the petition will probably be withdrawn from the Lahore Family Court on Monday.

Background of the Dispute

The couple tied the knot in a private Nikkah ceremony on November 7, 2025. However, severe marital discord surfaced within months, leading to high-profile public statements and media speculation from both sides.

  • Initial Petition: On July 20, 2026, Dr. Nabiha approached the Court of Senior Civil Judge in Lahore through Advocate Muhammad Mudassar to file for the dissolution of marriage.
  • Serious Allegations: In her original suit, Dr. Nabiha alleged physical abuse, violent behavior, and emotional distress, claiming her husband mistreated her severely and treated her “like animals,” making it impossible to continue the marriage under Islamic principles.
  • Husband’s Stance: Following the legal action and public outcry, Haris Khokhar firmly denied the allegations, calling them baseless and exaggerated, while both sides took to media channels to share their perspectives.

Sudden Reconciliation Effort

While the court was set to proceed with the legal notices and suit proceedings, the decision to retract the Khulla plea indicates a potential shift toward out-of-court reconciliation or an amicable resolution between the parties.

Advocate Mudassar confirmed that the formal withdrawal application is scheduled to be submitted before the presiding judge on Monday, effectively putting a hold on the formal judicial proceedings. Further details regarding the underlying terms of reconciliation remain undisclosed.
