KARACHI: Millions of users worldwide, including in Pakistan, faced disruption on Sunday after Meta’s flagship platforms, Facebook and Instagram, suffered a sudden outage.
The unexpected technical glitch left users unable to access their accounts, feeds and profiles, sparking widespread concern across social media.
According to global media reports and user complaints, the outage was reported simultaneously from multiple regions. Users attempting to log in via mobile applications or desktop browsers were met with an alert stating that the account was temporarily unavailable.
The on-screen message attributed the disruption to an internal technical error and indicated that the failure to load services was not related to individual accounts.
In the notification, Meta reassured users that its technical teams are working to resolve the issue on priority and advised users to refrain from repeated login attempts and to try accessing their accounts again after some time.
As of now, Meta has not issued a detailed statement on the cause and extent of the outage, nor has it confirmed when full services will be restored.
