Here’s how to report intruders in family record to NADRA

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new “Report Intruder” feature in its PakID mobile application, enabling citizens to flag unauthorized individuals appearing in their family records.

The move comes as authorities intensify a nationwide crackdown on Afghan and other nationals who allegedly obtained Pakistani CNICs through corrupt practices within NADRA.

Officials said the feature allows registered users to log into the PakID app, review their family composition, and directly report suspicious or unknown entries. Complaints are then forwarded to NADRA for investigation, with citizens also able to seek guidance via helpline 1777.

The initiative follows nearly a year of heightened scrutiny across Pakistan, where law enforcement agencies have been targeting fraudulent identity documents. Investigations have revealed that Afghan and other nationals managed to secure CNICs by bribing NADRA officials, raising concerns about national security and the integrity of the registration system.

Authorities underscored that the new tool is part of a broader effort to restore public confidence in NADRA’s database and ensure accuracy in family records.

“This is a citizen-driven safeguard against identity fraud,” an official remarked, noting that the crackdown has already led to multiple suspensions and arrests within NADRA’s ranks.

The government has described the measure as a “major facilitation step,” stressing that it empowers citizens to protect their family trees while complementing ongoing institutional reforms.

Analysts say the timing reflects Islamabad’s determination to curb illegal documentation practices that have long undermined governance and security.

According to the preliminary report, the incident was not caused by an air-conditioner compressor explosion or an electrical short circuit. Instead, the fire reportedly broke out after a nebulizer attached to an incubator, used to monitor oxygen levels, exploded.
