Gilgit-Baltistan, PPP

SKARDU: The Pakistan Peoples Party and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party have failed to finalise a power-sharing formula for Gilgit-Baltistan, with a deadlock persisting over ministerial portfolios, sources said.

According to PPP sources, the IPP has refused to show flexibility on the Gilgit-Baltistan power-sharing arrangement. The PPP has offered two ministries to the IPP, but the latter is not prepared to drop its demand for four ministries.

Sources added that the IPP would need to be given three ministries to break the impasse. The PPP’s GB organisation is trying to persuade the IPP, while nominated Chief Minister Amjad Advocate remains in contact with the IPP leadership.
