A love marriage dispute in Shujaabad has turned violent with police claiming that the girl’s family allegedly kidnapped the boy’s father and tortured a police team that arrived to recover him.
Following the incident, a case has been registered against more than 20 people and legal action has been initiated.
The situation escalated in the jurisdiction of Shujaabad’s Saddar Police Station after tensions arose over a love marriage. According to police, the girl’s family allegedly abducted the boy’s father.
Police said that Shahid Langah’s son, Zahid, had married Tanveer’s daughter of his own choice, after which the girl’s relatives became enraged. Police alleged that the family members kidnapped Shahid Langah, the boy’s father.
After receiving information about the incident, Saddar Police reached the scene, where the situation reportedly worsened. According to police officials, the suspects threw chili powder into the eyes of the SHO and other police personnel, held them hostage, and tore their uniforms.
Later, police teams from three different stations arrived at the location and launched an operation, rescuing the SHO and other detained officers.
Police officials said a case has been registered over the incident. Saddar Police have nominated more than 20 people, including women, and started legal proceedings, while raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects.
