Significant progress has been made in the investigation into the incident at Karachi Airport, where a private airline staff member tore a passenger’s passport, and the staff have been held responsible.
The Pakistan Airports Authority conducted an investigation into the incident that occurred at Karachi International Airport just before the departure of a passenger traveling abroad and prepared a detailed report highlighting key points.
According to sources, the investigation by the Pakistan Airports Authority found the staff at the AirBlue counter responsible. Female employee Kiran examined the passenger’s passport and, in haste, attempted to remove a sticker, causing the passport to tear.
The investigation also revealed that the passenger, Qudratullah, was scheduled to fly to Jeddah on AirBlue flight PA-170. He had arrived at the airline counter at 1:25 PM, but due to the torn passport, he was unable to travel.
The passenger left the international departure terminal building and began shouting in frustration along with other family members, while ASF officials and DTM personnel were present.
Sources further stated that the report noted no AirBlue staff came forward to address the passenger’s complaint, nor was any action taken in response.
The Pakistan Airports Authority’s investigation concluded that the incident was entirely the airline staff’s fault and recommended a high-level investigation into both the staff and the airline.
