Investigations are underway into the Indian aircraft crash at Dubai Airshow 2025, with authorities examining whether the incident resulted from pilot error or a mechanical malfunction.
A joint inquiry is being conducted by UAE aviation officials and military experts.
On the final day of the Dubai Airshow, an Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed, killing its pilot. Since its inception in 1989, this is the first fatal accident in the history of the biennial Dubai Airshow.
The investigation aims to determine whether the pilot violated any flying protocols.
According to aviation sources, authorities have begun examining the possibility of breaches of aviation rules.
Dubai Airshow organizers stated that aircraft performing aerial maneuvers were required to maintain a minimum altitude of 300 feet. Investigators are probing whether the Indian jet dropped below this minimum height.
The aircraft’s use of an unapproved aerial maneuvering technique is also under scrutiny. A thorough investigation is being conducted into the possibility of a technical malfunction in the Indian fighter jet.
The crash occurred within the “display box,” a designated zone for aerial demonstrations. The Dubai Airshow’s display box is located at least two kilometers away from spectators.
The Airshow’s Flying Control Committee is also part of the investigation and is reviewing approved protocols and video footage in detail.
