Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s long-running legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval, involves newly filed court documents in which Jolie details the trauma of their divorce.

The filings are in response to Pitt’s legal motion regarding Jolie’s sale of her stake in the winery.

In an October 6, 2025 filing, Jolie stated that the events leading to her split from Pitt were “emotionally difficult” for her and their children.

The actress connected the Miraval estate to “painful events” leading to the divorce and said neither she nor the children have set foot on the property since the separation.

Jolie reiterated that Miraval was one of their first major investments together, the site of their wedding, and the home where they brought their twins home from the hospital.

She stated she left Pitt full control of their Los Angeles and Miraval homes without compensation, hoping it would make him “calmer.”

Jolie is seeking $33,000 from Pitt to cover the legal fees incurred while responding to his motion regarding private messages about the winery.

A source close to Pitt has called Jolie’s statement “excuses” for failing to produce emails in discovery, emphasizing that the issue is a commercial business dispute separate from the divorce.

The legal fight began after Jolie sold her share of the winery to Tenute Del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, in 2021.

In February 2022, Pitt sued Jolie, alleging the sale violated an agreement that neither party would sell their share without the other’s consent.

Jolie later countersued, claiming that Pitt attempted to force her into a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that would have silenced her about his alleged abuse. Jolie’s lawyers say this is what prompted her to sell her share to a third party.

Jolie’s countersuit linked the sale to allegations of verbal and physical abuse during a 2016 plane flight, which Pitt has denied.

The couple’s divorce was finalized in December 2024, but their legal disputes over assets like Miraval have continued.
