Dubai: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially chosen Bangladesh as the host nation for the Asia Cup 2027, following a high-level meeting held in Dubai.
Representatives of all member countries attended the session, with the exception of India’s delegation, which remained absent. The decision comes in the wake of the successful completion of the 2025 Asia Cup and record-breaking global viewership.
According to sources present at the meeting, India’s conduct during the recently concluded tournament sparked frustration among fellow members.
Incidents such as the Indian players avoiding handshakes at the toss and after the final, as well as their refusal to receive the trophy from ACC President Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, were labeled as inappropriate and disrespectful.
Delegates from other countries strongly expressed disapproval of India’s attitude, considering it detrimental to the spirit of the game and regional sportsmanship.
Although BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla joined the meeting virtually, India’s overall stance came under sharp criticism.
Sources added that the official announcement and preparations for Asia Cup 2027 in Bangladesh will soon be unveiled by the ACC.
