Lazawal Ishq, Pakistan’s first reality dating show, has officially released its debut episode on YouTube, despite widespread backlash and calls for a ban.
The show, hosted by actress Ayesha Omar and filmed in Turkey, stirred controversy even before its release due to its bold format, which many critics labelled as culturally inappropriate. Nevertheless, the premiere went live on September 29 and quickly racked up views, setting the stage for what could become one of the most talked-about shows in the country.
The first episode premiered on September 29 and garnered over 125,000 views within just a few hours. Spanning nearly 130 minutes, the episode introduced the participating men and women, asked them about their preferences in a partner, and explained the show’s format.
Viewers were quick to react, criticizing the bold Western-style attire worn by the female contestants. Host Ayesha Omar was also seen engaging in open conversations on various topics with the participants.

After the show’s trailer was released, many had called for it to be banned, labelling it a “dating show.” Ayesha Omar defended the show, insisting it was about the “search for eternal love” — not dating.
PEMRA clarified it cannot intervene since the show isn’t airing on television. Filmed in Turkey, Lazawal Ishq is based on a Turkish show format, and similar versions exist in Arabic, Persian, and other languages. The series is expected to run for 100 episodes, with one episode released weekly.
