Pakistan is facing severe economic difficulties; in such a situation, the extraordinary expenses on the wedding of a high-ranking government official’s daughter have attracted attention.
According to the news, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has estimated the expenses of this wedding at around Rs 248 million, but these amounts have not been disclosed in the tax returns of either the officer or his daughter, nor was any due tax paid on these events.
According to the report, the wedding celebrations were no less than a film production. Rs 40 million were spent on the decoration of the venue and other arrangements alone, while Rs 30 million were spent on food for 400 guests in six grand ceremonies.

The dresses of the bride, groom, and close relatives, which were made by renowned South Asian designers, were worth Rs 35 million.
The highest expenditure was on jewellery, which included gold and diamond sets, worth a total of Rs 80 million.
In addition, another Rs 30 million was spent on make-up, entertainment, styling, and photography. The expenses on invitations, gifts, and creative consultancy reached Rs 28 million. Thus, the total expenditure exceeded Rs 248 million.
The wedding celebrations included special arrangements for guests, including drone-filmed videos, fireworks and light shows, special meals, handmade invitations, and gifts.
According to FBR officials, despite this extraordinary expenditure, no details were included in the tax returns, and the sources of the funds are also unclear. Sources disclosed that most of the payments were made in cash to avoid paper evidence.
The bride’s foreign trips, which include Canada, the UK, Mexico, and the UAE, also reflect a lifestyle that is not consistent with official income.
