Under the vision of “Safe Children, Safe Punjab,” the Chief Minister of Punjab has launched the second phase of a special awareness campaign aimed at protecting young children from abuse.
The campaign is led by the Punjab Home Department, which has produced an animated video series to educate children about “Good Touch and Bad Touch.”
The series features cartoon characters named Haya and Bahadur who guide children in understanding the difference between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact. The campaign carries a strong message for children: “Don’t fear those who give bad touch — stand up to them.”
According to the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, the animation explains personal boundaries in a simple and child-friendly way. The goal is to empower children to recognize and report abuse if they experience or witness it.
Punjab’s Home Secretary, Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, has instructed the Child Protection Bureau to actively run the campaign and spread the message to schools and communities.
The spokesperson added that the initiative was launched in response to rising concerns over child sexual abuse, and this latest phase builds on earlier efforts to raise awareness.
Officials stressed the importance of early education in preventing abuse, noting that children who are properly informed are more likely to identify and report inappropriate behavior in time. They also point up the need for collective efforts by parents, teachers, and society to safeguard children and ensure their well-being.
