KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Sindh Infrastructure Development Corporation at the Governor House.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting along with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Maritime Affairs minister Ali Zaidi, the planning minister said the federal government is willing to work with Sindh for the betterment of the province’s people.
Asad Umar said Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided to appoint him as the focal person for the implementation of the federal government’s projects in Sindh two months ago. He said there should be no politics on matters relating to the improvement of the lives of the people.
He further said that prime minister has repeatedly said that the people of Karachi have given mandate to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. (PTI).“We have to do something for Karachi,” stressed the federal minister.
He said the government has allocated budget for the Green Line metro bus project this year as more funds were required to complete the project. He emphasised on the need of an early completion of the K-IV water project to address the water crisis in Karachi.
Umar further federal government has provided funds for the developmental projects in Karachi. National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has completed the work of re-designing of the K-IV project, he said, while the Public-Private Authority for Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway has started functioning
The authority has been constituted for private sector’s partnership in projects. “The government have limited resources, so as the private sector’s partnership is necessary,” he further said. He added that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate various projects in Karachi in February.
