Petrol price hiked by Rs2.61 per litre on New Year Eve

ISLAMABAD: The government has approved a summary by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) hiking the prices of petroleum products by up to Rs3.2 with effect from January 1, 2020.
The reguatory authority had proposed a maximum rise of Rs3.10 per liter, or 3.2% in the price of kerosene oil. followed by a hike of Rs2.61 per liter or 2.3% in the price of petrol, a transportation fuel that has an effect on the common man.
The petrol prices have increased from Rs113.99 to Rs116.6 per litre, High Speed Diesel (HSD) prices from Rs125.01 to Rs127.26 per litre, while Light Speed Speed Diesel has increased to Rs Rs 84.51 per litre.  The price of kerosene oil has been increased to Rs 99.45 per litre.

OGRA sent a summary to the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), which was forwarded to the Ministry of Finance for approval.  The OGRA recommended an increase in the price of high-speed diesel, which is primarily used in the transport and agriculture sectors of Rs2.25 per liter or 1.8 percent.
